The Social
Clubs
Six social clubs in Jerusalem provide services for
mentally ill adolescents and adults, from all parts of the city. The
social club provides a warm, friendly atmosphere in which members
can enjoy a variety of leisure-time activities which include
informal social interaction, board games, discussion groups, study
groups, trips, parties and short vacations. Members take an active
part in planning group activities and in decision making as to club
policy.
Social Clubs for Adults
Talpiot Club
The Talpiot club, the first established of all Enosh
social clubs, is situated in Enosh House. Activities take place on
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between the hours of 15.00
and 19.00. Some 40 people, between the ages of 30 and 75 take part
in activities at each club meeting.
Kinneret Club
The Kinneret Club functions in the 'Lev Ha-ir'
Community Center in Rechov Ohel Moshe, just behind the Mahane Yehuda
market. Activities take place every Monday and Thursday between the
hours of 15.00 and 19.00, 40 people aged 30 to 70 taking part each
time. Once every two weeks members are taken on an outing, in
addition to participating in the club's regular activities.
'Shesh and a half' Social Club for High
Functioning Adults
This club caters to young people, in their thirties,
who are in an advanced phase of recovery after a psychotic episode and
have difficulty in regaining their place among young people of their
own age. The club offers a framework where members can meet other
people like themselves and enjoy interesting and challenging
activities suitable for their age group and level of functioning.
Activities take place in Enosh House on wednesdays between 18.00 and
21.00. In addition there is an outing every two weeks.
Social Clubs for Youth and Young Adults
'Yahad' Social Club for Young
Adults
The services provided by Yahad are designed to answer
the special needs of mentally ill young adults. The approach of the
professional staff and the type of activities offered by the club
stress support and guidance for these young people. In order to
avoid a stigmatic environment, which caters just to the mentally
ill, this club meets three times a week at the Beit Hakerem
Community Center. Activities, which take place on Monday, Tuesday
and Thursday afternoons between 16.00 and 19.00 include structured
activities and unstructured social interaction between members.
'Shesh' Social Club for High
Functioning Young Adults
This club caters to young people, in their twenties,
who are in an advanced phase of recovery after a psychotic episode and
have difficulty in regaining their place among young people of their
own age. The club offers a framework where members can meet other

'Ofarim' Social Club for
Adolescents
A unique preventative social program for 12 to 16
year-olds, 'Ofarim' is designed especially for adolescents
experiencing severe loneliness and isolation due to emotional
problems. Unlike other Enosh programs, 'Ofarim is geared to
youngsters at risk for mental illness. This club meets at the Philip
Leon Community Center in Kiryat Hayovel every Monday and Wednesday
between 16.00 and 18.30.
